Prabowo's Strategy Wants to Develop Science and Technology in Indonesia

Poros Nasional. Prabowo Subianto complained about the lack of development of science in Indonesia. According to him in the 21st century, it was time for Indonesia to compete in the field of science and technology.


Prabowo gave an example, the lack of development of science and technology in Indonesia, one of which was the lack of professors. "We only have one professor of physics, only one, try to imagine," he said at the Indonesia Economic Forum, at Shangri-La Hotel on Wednesday (11/21/2018).


"In the 21st century, the century of science and technology. Then how do we want to compete in the field of science?" he said questioningly.


Prabowo also compared the graduates of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields which were still too few compared to China and the United States. According to him, graduates in the STEM field can boost the development of science and technology in Indonesia.

Even so, Prabowo also intends to improve science and technology to advance Indonesia. In the energy sector, for example, Prabowo intends to use biotechnology to support energy stability.


"We will make biotechnology production, by making bioenergy, bioethanol, biocoal, and synthetic gas. It will be our strategy later," he said.
