North Sumatra Police Have Been Investigated Due to Suspected Cases of Pakpak Bharat Regent's Wife

Pojok Pos. The North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumut) conducted an internal inspection related to the process of terminating the investigation into the alleged corruption case in the facilitation activities of Family Welfare Development (PKK) in Pakpak Bharat District involving the wife of Pakpak Bharat Regent, Made Tirta Kusuma Dewi.

North Sumatra Regional Police Chief Inspector General Agus Andrianto said the examination was carried out to explore the possibility of playing a certain person or party in the process of terminating the investigation into the case.

"We are checking internally as to what the real problem is. If someone plays at that moment, it will be traced," Agus said via a short message to reporters on Wednesday (11/21).

He explained that the possibility of playing in the process of terminating the investigation could occur in various forms, such as between the Regent and investigators in the police.

In addition, Agus explained the possibility of a 'game' that occurred between intermediaries or case brokers by committing fraud on behalf of police officers.

"This can work with investigators or take personal advantage by cheating as if for investigators or superiors, even though he is taking advantage," Agus said.

Moreover, the two-star general added, the process of terminating the investigation was in accordance with the applicable standard operating procedures (SOP).

According to him, the investigation process must be stopped because the state's losses in the case have been returned.

"Termination of the investigation is in accordance with the SOP," said Agus.

The case of alleged bribery that ensnared Pakpak Bharat District Head Remigo Yolando Berutut also dragged on the name Made Tirta Kusuma Dewi who was his wife. The KPK suspects that the bribe received by Remigo was used to secure the case of his wife who was dealing with law in Medan.

Made Tirta Kusuma Dewi was involved in a case of alleged corruption in the facilitation activities of the PKK District of Pakpak Bharat District in 2014. This case was initially handled by Pakpak Bharat police station. A number of people were called to be questioned. Then in early 2018, the case was delegated to the Special Criminal Investigation Director (Ditreskrimsus) of North Sumatra Regional Police.

Head of North Sumatra Police Public Relations, Sr. Comr. Tatan Dirsan Atmaja said the investigation into the case had been stopped a week ago after information was obtained and clarification from the North Sumatra Provincial Inspectorate that state losses in the PKK Pakpak Bharat activities of Rp143 million had been returned.

"His investigation was stopped last week. It was not one or two people we examined. We both know, during the investigation phase, as long as it has not been followed up, we continue to monitor together. It was from the results of clarification with the inspectorate that the case investigation was stopped "Alleged state losses of Rp143 million have been returned," said Tatan, Monday (11/19).

However, Tatan's statement was different from what was revealed by the North Sumatra Provincial Inspectorate.

The North Sumatra Province I Inspector General Assistant Yilpipa Minanda said that his office was indeed requested by the North Sumatra Regional Police to conduct an examination of the corruption of PKK facilitation activities in Pakpak Bharat District involving Made Tirta Kusuma Dewi.

However, he claimed he did not know the return of state losses. According to him, they have never received reports on refunds.

"When it comes to refunds, we don't know because our report has been submitted, the problem has been returned or not, nothing has been reported with us," Yilpipa told reporters on Monday (11/19).
