The Community Must Be Aware of the Law to Encourage the Progress of the Nation
Kanal Utama. Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasonna H. Laoly said that with the increasing number of Indonesians aware that law enforcement would be able to encourage the progress of a country. For him, legal awareness is positively correlated with the progress of a nation.
"The higher the legal awareness of a nation's people, the more advanced the country will be," Yasonna said in remarks at the inauguration and awarding of Anubhawa Sasana awards to 112 law-conscious villages or urban villages in East Java in Malang City Hall.
Yasonna said that the form of a legal state would be seen from the level of community compliance, the level of public legal awareness. This is the key to creating a safe, orderly and peaceful state and community life.
For example, one of the countries in Asia whose society has a high level of legal awareness is Japan. All layers of society in Sakura are very consistent in carrying out the applicable legal rules.
While in Indonesia, in matters of simpler problems such as disposing of trash and obeying the rules of traffic procedures, it is sometimes still a separate record. However, these very basic things are actually closely related to law enforcement for a higher category. "Not to mention obedience to pay the United Nations and other regulations," Yasonna said.
He continued that the country was in shambles over legal awareness, the people would not be orderly, and this would hamper the progress of a country. Therefore, if Indonesia wants to be truly advanced, then the community must be committed to being a law-order society.
In an effort to build intelligent legal communities, the Government seeks to bring closer and broader access to justice, especially for the poor. This priority is realized by increasing the number of verified and accredited legal aid organizations. "I also hope that friends who have been accredited really want to accompany our community," he said.
